In a heartwarming event at the residence of Ms. Marlyn Rosas, our President, an extraordinary gathering took place last Wednesday. The occasion was graced by members of the Project Pink Support Group, an organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of cancer survivors and their caregivers. The event, both moving and enlightening, provided a glimpse into the incredible work being done by this support group, which aligns with our President’s personal journey as a breast cancer survivor.

Project Pink Support Group: A Vision of Hope

The Project Pink Support Group carries a powerful vision – to be a catalyst in multiplying effective cancer support groups throughout the country. However, their mission goes beyond that. They aim to change the general stigma associated with a cancer diagnosis, emphasizing that there is still more to life than cancer. Their efforts are a beacon of hope for those affected by this life-altering condition.

Mission: Providing Support and Education

The core of Project Pink’s mission is to provide emotional and psychological support to both survivors and caregivers. This holistic approach acknowledges that cancer affects not only the patient but also their support system.

Additionally, the group strives to assist in the dissemination of cancer information and educate people about cancer, particularly those who are financially disadvantaged. Knowledge, as we know, is a powerful tool in the fight against any illness.

Patient Active Concept: Empowering Individuals

One of the standout concepts embraced by the Project Pink Support Group is the “Patient Active Concept.” It encourages individuals to combine their willpower with the skills of healthcare professionals to fight for their recovery. This approach not only improves the quality of life but also enhances the possibility of recovery.

Twelve Steps to Empowerment

The Project Pink Support Group follows a structured approach to empower individuals facing cancer, often referred to as the “Twelve Steps to Stage Zero.” These steps guide survivors and caregivers on a journey towards a better quality of life and recovery:

  1. Regain, maintain, sustain HOPE
  2. Continue to enjoy intimacy
  3. Be careful about what you eat and exercise regularly
  4. Volunteer
  5. Pain: Don’t put up with it
  6. Spend time with other cancer patients
  7. Control stress
  8. Form a partnership with your physician
  9. Anger: Identify it, examine it, get rid of it
  10. Eliminate myths about cancer
  11. Make plans for the future
  12. Don’t be reclusive and seek family harmony

Monthly Support Sessions

Project Pink Support Group conducts monthly sessions to keep the flame of hope alive. The “Twelve Steps to Stage Zero” sessions happen every last Saturday of the month from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NN. Additionally, there are online spiritual care sessions every second Wednesday of the month from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NN.
